Music and Me

HERE'S the theme tune I was telling you about yesterday. Aparently it was written specially for the film but it sounds to me like a classic piece...
The piano theme that I like so much doesn't come in till 1 minute 20:~~~~~~~

MUSIC FROM THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL

Yesterday I spent ages searching out a best version of Like a Prayer, because the music was going round and round my head. Here we have it:

MADONNA: LIKE A PRAYER LIVE (STICKY AND SWEET)

My favourite singers are Sinéad O'Connor and Barbra Streisand. I think the female voice is far superior to its male counterpart. I even read in the paper that men don't pay attention to women because the female voice is pitched to be interpreted by the male brain as music. Never heard so much cow-shite in my life, but who knows, maybe they have a point?

SINÉAD O'CONNOR: THIS IS A REBEL SONG

Don't be swayed by the title, as she points out, this is actually a love song:
And doesn't she look so much better with hair~??!

BARBRA STREISAND: EVERGREEN

From 1976 A Star is Born, featuring Kris Kristofferson:

Here is Elton John performing one of his old hits with the defunct boyband Blue. Usually I hate boybands ~ all that phoney heart-grabbing "I just want to get in your knickers" insincerity. Ukkh. But this is a good tune...

BLUE FT. ELTON JOHN: SORRY SEEMS TO BE THE HARDEST WORD

AND JUST SO'S THE DAY CAN BE COMPLETE, HERE'S A FUNNY PHOTO FOR Y'ALL

Roborovski Hamsters, the Family Conference

WISHING A FURRY WEEKEND TO YOU ALL!

  1. BUGERLUGS I STILL CAN'T COMMENT ON YOUR BLOG. Anna Grace's
    ppfaceannagrace.blogspot.com
used to do the same, but a "publish your comment" button has miraculously appeared and now I can speak. You might have to look at your comments without logging in, then you'll see them as another person would (eg you don't see your own word verification when logged in). Surely there's something you could do to get that orange Publish Your Comment box back??????
    !
    ??????
    Help me please!
Do you think it has something to do with the internet cafe I'm at?
I do, but what it could "be" I've absolutely no idea :-(

  2. Hi . . . I've no idea what it could be, as other people are commenting . . I went to my settings and tried to remove the word verify . . . I don't know if it has worked. I will have to log out and go back as a "reader" to see if I can comment . . . O that's so annoying! . . . I presume you can comment on other blogs? . . . How bizarre.
I'll go there right now and have a look . . . Love the music and Robo photo ;-)
    With love x
(do you think Sinead O'connor could be George Best's love child? . . there's something of him about her)

  3. Hi . . . Ok I tried it, I signed out first and then commented. There was no word-verify so I must've removed that. It doesn't come up with a separate box like yours; just a box within the blog page . . . I can't think what else to do. If it's still the same tomorrow I'll ask Geekster what he thinks . . . I wonder if others are having the same problem, quite a few of my regulars didn't comment on my last "episode" . . . mind you, it was a "no comment" kind of post . . . I'll see if the regulars are back for my "day to day update" tonight. I hope you can come back soon x

  4. It's the orange "publish your comment" box that isn't there and I did have the same trouble at other blogs eg Anna Grace's
    ppfaceannagrace.blogspot.com
but the publish box there has reappeared. I went bloghopping through
    jamesclaims.wordpress.com
and found a few Blogger blogs without the publish button but they let my comments straight through~!

I've no idea what the problem is. I might try going to another internet cafe to see if their computers let me through. Seems a bit drastic just to leave a simple comment but if that's what I have to do it's what I have to do!! ;-(

  5. I'm going to post up about this and see whether anybody gives a reply.

This problem never happens if you use a popup window like I do btw...

The reason for my popupwindow commenting was so that I could listen to music via youtube screens that would keep playing while I answered my own comments, nothing more sophisticated than that but the popup window style comments definitely work better.

As I remember there are 3 main comments settings.
    1... Pop-up window (like I have)
    2... New page
3... Same page, with the comments box at the bottom.

The one I've always had most problems with is comments integral to the page they're posted on (ie same page, option 3). It's that one that caused me problems even a year ago.

I don't know how to describe it better than that.

What you need to be looking for is an orange "Publish Your Comment" button. If it's not there, it's hard to publish any comment at all. Sometimes it has worked on other people's blogs, other times, as on your blogs it doesn't work at all.

Anna Grace's blog used to have no "Publish Your Comment" button, and I couldn't comment for ages. Suddenly it's reappeared... ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHY!!

surely SURELY I'm not the only person in the Bloggosphere to have had this difficulty. SURELY :-(
    :-(

  6. Does this pitch thing explain why my wife often says "You haven't listened to a word I've said have you?"... :-)

I like either - in terms of male vs female voices I think - although there is a majority of male singers in my catalog I suppose if I'm honest about it.

  7. Gleds - I had a problem with some sites - and found doing a page refresh showed the button. In the end I think it was an update of Flash or something like that which fixed it

  8. FURTHERON: how do you actually do a page-refresh? Except by going up to the url at the top left and just pressing return, so the page reloads?.. I tried doing that thing, but got the same old comments box STILL with no orange "Publish Your Comment" button!!

One of the best male voices I can think of was Michael Jackson... when he dropped that "Mickey Mouse on Helium" shriek of his and actually sang lyrically, his voice was beutiful. He never sounded like a "woman" to me, more an angry young boy.

When he did sing sweetly, his voice was amazing. A woman would have sung sweeter, more of the time. Hence my preference for female singers. I think they make more of their voice than male singers ever do, and the male singers I like are nearly all GAY! Freddie Mercury, George Michael, Elton John... even Will Young... what is this about?? Maybe it's my Inner Lesbian taking control... who knows??
