~~~FURRY FRIDAY ON SATURDAY~~~
They're the size of a small dog...
Their behaviour is famously rude...
.
But aren't the little ones cute!
Love the photos this Furry Friday~ on Saturday. The Tazmanian Devil has always intruiged me. It's a bit like the Badger's here in Wisconsin. Our state's football team is called The Wisconsin Badgers.
I once watched a documentry on Taz devils, in Tazmania Austrailia, and it showed that a large amount of the population of these devils were getting some strange disease. I think it was cancerous, and it was very contagious. They had traced back the origans of the disease to the imbreeding of taz devils. It was so sad.
The encouraging part of this documentry was the government is catching these devils, and cutting out the disease. (the disease would disfigure them)The disease was most visiable on the face of the devil, making it hard for them to see. Surgrey was correcting that. They were also studing the disease, and hopefully by now have found a vaccine or cure.
The documentry was on the National Geographic Channel is you want to look it up.
I never seen a Tasmanian devil before only the cartoon.The babys are real cute.
The babies are cute. The adults look ferocious.
Always preferred the cartoon character who I just think is brilliant!
ANNA GRACE: we get badgers here in Britain but I'm not sure they would be the same type as Wisconsin badgers. They are really really shy and even though they are the size of a fairly big dog, and live in or close to towns, most people, including me, have never seen one!
BEV: I don't think I've even seen the cartoon. Seen some computer game about 'em though. I got the idea for posting them up after seeing them on a nature programme years ago. They were really rude, making yelling sounds all the time...
SYD: exactly!!
FURTHERON: I've never seen that cartoon... I'm beginning to feel deprived now... :-(
Never heard much about them but the little devil babies are quite cute.
I like Barbra. Her voice is amazing.
Aren't those babies in the pic bear cubs??? Tassie devils are different - they are black, have long whiskers, a muzzle like a dog and generally have a white V shaped band on their chest. But they are most definitely cute.
